Bernard
Kapfer was born in Paris
in 1945. The popular district of the Bastille was the atmosphere of his earliest
youth.
A few years later, his parents settled in a small village on the French Riviera.
There is no doubt that the light and the colors of the Mediterranee deeply influenced
the glance of the young boy who very early expresses a vocation of a creator.
He will however make scientific studies which will bring him to be a bachelor
in biology.
Speleology, Judo, carpentry which he practises in the paternal workshop will
work his spirit as curious as eclectic...
But very quickly he turns to the visual arts... He continues his studies in
the National School of Decorative Arts of Nice.
He becomes in turn, professor
of ebenistery, interior designer, designer, computer engineer, before being
devoted to painting and drawing which he practises like a true asceticism. he
more particularly goes on many journeys to Italy.
From these journeys, he returns with the desire for joining again with the great
tradition of the "renaissance" when the artists were talented creators
.
He makes many search in contemporary art, but he rejects quickly as an art which
he qualifies as " an anecdotic art "... He adds: " Any
creative act must be an act impregnated of love, of humanism and a gift of oneself...
The small talent which life gave us is there to be cultivated and must be used
for daily happiness and reflexion . Too many artists are justified only for
the immediate success and the profit or notoriety."
Then sculpture seized him. Today, a discrete artist, he continues his improvement
and his creation as a " philosopher and urban anchorite ". Rejecting any form
of "académisme", his art can be qualified as a traditional contemporary
art.
